A late brunch in Shinjuku on a sunny day!

Oct 11, 2019

Shinjuku is an iconic spot in Tokyo; famous for accommodating many great attractions like Godzilla, a robot restaurant, and the biggest red-light district in Japan: Kabukicho.

it is also famous as one of the busiest cities in Tokyo; the city never dies and always packed almost every day.

Today we’re sharing our experience having a late brunch in Shinjuku, introducing hidden spots like a place to buy a cup of boba (bubble tea), a rooftop cafe offering delicious galette and gorgeous view, and a shop where you can buy creamy soft-serve ice cream from Hokkaido!

1. Yi Fang Taiwan Fruit Tea

Yi Fang Taiwan Fruit Tea Shinjuku

We arrived at Shinjuku Station around 10:30 and we were looking for a cup of boba before we headed to the cafe to have brunch.
We were wandering around the station and we found a boba store called “Yi Fang”.

Yi Fang is a boba chain from Taiwan, and it is famous for its boba fruit tea, but we ordered the brown sugar boba because we were very hungry, and we liked it a lot!
We’ve tried many boba places in Tokyo and amongst those places, we consider Yi Fang as the second best. The texture of the boba is not too chewy and soft, so you can enjoy eating it while drinking it.

The amount of brown sugar is just right, not overly sweet. Even though Yi Fang is a little bit pricey compared to other boba places, we definitely will come back to this store again next time!

2. BREIZH Cafe Creperie Shinjuku Takashimaya

We headed to BREIZH; a famous rooftop cafe in the place, offering tasty Galette and a gorgeous garden view after we had brown sugar boba.
The cafe is located on the rooftop of Shinjuku Takashimaya,  on the 13th floor. We ordered the lunch set menu: a plate of salad or a bowl of soup, your choice of the galette, and a drink.

BREIZH Cafe Creperie Shinjuku Takashimaya: lemon tea

We enjoyed the iced lemon tea on the terrace while enjoying the view of the garden on the rooftop.

A clear sky on a sunny day; definitely perfect to enjoy a late brunch!

BREIZH Cafe Creperie Shinjuku Takashimaya: colorful salad

The salad was not only colorful but also served together with a homemade vegetable dressing; a healthy treat for your body!

After finishing the salad, we had an Iberico bacon galette with cheese and egg. For those who don’t know what galette is, a galette is a buckwheat crepe filled with savory fillings like vegetables and meat. Since it’s gluten-free, people with gluten intolerance can eat galette too. The galette is thin and has crunchy texture and the fillings taste great; not overly salty.

The lunch set costs around 1,600 yen (price might change without any prior notifications), which is pretty reasonable for a rooftop cafe.

3. MILK Craft Cream Lumine Est Shinjuku

We really enjoyed our brunch, but we still had a few spaces for desserts, so we headed to MILK, a fresh cream specialist shop from Kushiro, Hokkaido. Kushiro is a city in Hokkaido that is known for its great milk production and MILK is known for its delicious and creamy soft serve ice cream.

We ordered the Milky Soft Parfait; a 4-in-1 parfait of milky soft serve, milk pudding, milk cream, and tapioca balls, which costs around 900 yen per portion. The milky soft serve has a rich flavor and the milk pudding is very silky. The milk cream is not only fresh, but also fluffy, and the tapioca balls are just right; not overly chewy.
