Miffy Café at the city of “Kamaishi”, IWATE
Miffy Café at the city of “Kamaishi”, Iwate, The only permanent Miffy Café by Dick Bruma dedicated to the victims of Tsunami in 2011
I believe most of you are familiar with the white bunny from Netherlands, Miffy. Miffy Café often shows its appearance in big cities like Tokyo or Osaka, but always only temporarily. But THIS café in Kamaishi, Iwate is not for temporary! You can always go to visit little Miffy anytime of the year.
The reason this permanent Miffy Café is located in this specific place is said to be to lighten up the city of Kamaishi after the Tsunami in 2011 unfortunately took many lives from the city. The incident affects so many people in Kamaishi. But just when the grief was taking over, a Japanese journalist who happened to be a friend of Dick Bruna, the creator of Miffy, asked for Dick’s help to bring people’s smiles back to Kamaishi with Miffy.
This Miffy Café is located about 15 minutes from JR Kamaishi station (by walking). It is spacious with Miffy being EVERTWHERE in the Café. There is also a children books corner for you to have an easy read while sipping your coffe.
You will never be alone here because Miffy will always be your company!
You can enjoy lunch, dinner, or desserts here as there are over 40 menus here, waiting for you to explore.
Although I do recommend the Parfait here. It is the cutest!
After taking LOTS of photos of Miffy and enjoying delicious menus, you will find the Miffy original goods sales corner. Most of the merchandises here are original and that means you will not find it elsewhere. So, don’t miss it!
In conclusion, I really can’t find any reasons not to go to this Miffy Café. The story behind it is beautiful and the Café itself is indeed joyous. So, if you have a chance to visit the city of Kamaishi, be sure to visit little Miffy here, get your heart full of happiness, and your stomach full of great food!
