Kitasando, a hidden food spot near Harajuku to visit on weekdays

Jan 13, 2020

Have you ever heard of Kitasando? Kitasando is only a station away from Meiji-jingumae (Harajuku)
and it is famous for its great collection of cute cafes and adorable desserts spots to visit on weekdays.

Today we’ll share our experience having a late brunch and a food tour in Kitasando.

We started our journey at Le Carre, a French deli restaurant near Kitasando Station, which is famous for its natural deli and delicious bread.

We ordered a carrot and egg sandwich for our brunch.
The sandwich is topped with prosciutto, thinly-sliced and marinated carrots, and half-boiled egg.

The bread is a hard-type bread, and it also served together with pickles and soup.
It was great and we paid around 1000 yen for this.

After having brunch, we wanted something sweet so we decided to go to Tea Stand NANA to try its delicious milk tea soft serve ice cream.

The milk tea softcream is available only for take out, but it was raining outside,
so we decided to try the kakigoori (shaved ice) inside the shop.

We tried the caramel orange shaved ice with boba.
The drawing says that inside the shaved ice there is a portion of royal milk tea soft serve ice cream.

Let’s see how does it look in reality.

The staff served our shaved ice and it looked exactly like the drawing.
This shaved ice has a soft and fluffy texture, and you can taste the caramel orange flavor from the ice.

The whipped cream was thick and soft; and the boba was not too gooey or chewy.
Everything was perfect and definitely we would like to return to this shop again sometimes in the near future.

Before we left Kitasando, we walked to Sendagaya to visit Kippy’s Coco Cream,
an organic and vegan ice cream store in Tokyo originated from California.

So this ice cream shop is located near Sendagaya Station, and it is famous for its non-dairy vegan ice cream.

There are a lot of flavors to choose and this time we ordered three different flavors: charcoal, raspberry, and dark chocolate. We chose cacao nibs as the topping.

The ice creams were soft, smooth, and not overly sweet. We had three scoops but since everything was just perfect, these ice creams didn’t hit our stomach heavily.

Kippy’s Coco Cream was our last stop for this trip, but actually there are more shops in Kitasando area to review.
If you’re interested in visiting Kitasando, please stay tuned as we will broadcast more features covering this area in the near future!
