Hiroo, a novel spot of Tokyo to visit on weekends

Dec 19, 2019

Have you ever heard of Hiroo? Hiroo is an upscale neighborhood in Tokyo near Shibuya, Roppongi,
and Azabu-juban, and the area is famous for its great collection of fancy restaurants, cafes, and shops.

Today we’ll take you around Hiroo to try its great cafes and food spots.

We started our journey in Hiroo by visiting Canvas by Tokyo, a small coffee shop near Hiroo Station that is famous for its delicious donuts.

We ordered pistachio donut and iced coffee.

The donut was served on a wax paper, but since we wanted to make it more Instagrammable, we put the donut on top of the iced coffee to make it more adorable.

Unlike other donuts, the donuts at Canvas Tokyo are baked donuts, so they’re less oily and fattening compared to the donuts sold at other stores.
In addition to the pistachio donut, they also sell kinako donuts, beni imo (purple yam) donuts, and chocolate donuts.

After having a short coffee time at Canvas Tokyo, we moved to Les Grands Abres, a tree house cafe managed by a flower shop in Hiroo.
Located in a small building with a small tree house, this cafe is very famous among both local and foreign tourists.

The cafe offers both lunch and dinner, and for lunch, they don’t take reservations, so you have to queue in front of the store.

The price of the lunch ranges from 700 yen to 1500 yen, and this time we ordered three different menus for our lunch.

A deli plate with chicken in tomato sauce; a very healthy lunch for your body.

A plate of creamy tuna fettuccine; a tummy filling lunch for big eaters.

A caramel pancake with cashew nuts.

Many people visit this cafe for its great ambience, because actually the quality of the food is just average. The tree house is open to the public and you can take pictures there.

We’re done with our lunch so we continued walking around Hiroo, and our next stop is Melting In The Mouth.

Melting In The Mouth is a soft serve ice cream store; but it’s not an ordinary soft serve ice cream store.

All soft serve ice cream and drinks are made of organic milk, that’s why everything here tastes different. The texture of the soft serve ice cream is very soft and creamy. We ordered two original soft serve ice creams, iced coffee, and strawberry milk (ichigo milk).

In addition to the original flavor, a seasonal flavor: grape flavor, was also available at the time.
