1.Discovering Nabana no Sato

Nabana no Sato, located in Kuwana City, Mie Prefecture, is a famous flower garden in Japan. Its expansive grounds are filled with a diverse range of flowers that bloom throughout the year. In spring, visitors can enjoy the beauty of cherry blossoms and tulips; in summer, hydrangeas are in full bloom; and in autumn, the vibrant foliage creates a stunning display. This garden allows you to experience the beauty of all four seasons in Japan.
Additionally, the garden features a large greenhouse known as the ‘Begonia Garden,’ where visitors can admire colorful begonias year-round, regardless of the weather making it a truly worthwhile attraction.
Every year, from approximately late October to late May, Nabana no Sato hosts a spectacular illumination and light-up event, one of the grandest in Japan. With its breathtaking scenery, vibrant flowers, and dazzling lights, it’s no wonder that the garden attracts large numbers of visitors, making it a popular destination for both Japanese citizens and international tourists.
2.Convenient Access from Nagoya and Kansai
Traveling from Kansai to Nabana no Sato is very convenient, especially if you are in Osaka or near Nagoya. The journey from Osaka takes about 2 hours, while from Nagoya, it takes only 1 hour. Additionally, you can save money by using KINTETSU RAIL PASS!

From Osaka:
From Osaka-Namba Station, take Kintetsu Limited Express Namba Line to Kuwana Station (approximately 2 hours).
– During the light-up period, you can take the train from Kuwana Station to Kintetsu-Nagashima Station (approximately 5 minutes), then take a bus to the entrance of Nabana no Sato (approximately 10 minutes).
– During non-light-up periods, you can take a bus from Kuwana Station (approximately 20 minutes) to the entrance of Nabana no Sato.
(Total travel time: approximately 2 hours 15 minutes)

From Nagoya:
Take Kintetsu train Nagoya Line from Nagoya Station to Kuwana Station (approximately 20 minutes).
– During the light-up period, you can take the train from Kuwana Station to Kintetsu-Nagashima Station, which takes approximately 5 minutes, then transfer to a bus that takes another 10 minutes to Nabana no Sato.
– During non-light-up periods, you can take a bus from Kuwana Station, which takes approximately 20 minutes to Nabana no Sato.

3.Enjoying Seasonal Flowers
As mentioned above, this garden hosts flower festivals throughout the year, allowing you to experience different beauty no matter when you visit. Today, we’d like to introduce some flowers from each season.
‘From Spring to Summer’
– Nemophila
Best time to visit: Mid April – Mid May

Let’s begin with a highlight of this season ‘Nemophila’. These small, pale blue flowers, about 3 centimeters in diameter, are native to North America and bloom from mid-April to mid-May. They cover an area of over 13,000 square meters, with approximately 1 million plants.

At their peak, the flower field transforms into a breathtaking blue carpet that seems to connect with the sky. This stunning landscape attracts many visitors, especially during Golden Week, when tourists can walk through the field and capture photographs from elevated vantage points.
– Rose
Best time to visit:
In Spring: Early May – Mid June
In Autumn: Early October – Early November

Next is ‘Rose’ that designed to harmonize with nature, with a stream flowing through it and roses climbing along the rocks, creating a beautiful and incredibly romantic atmosphere.

The garden features a variety of rose species, including modern varieties such as Hybrid Tea and Floribunda climbing roses, fragrant English roses, and antique roses, each with its own unique charm, color, and fragrance.
– Begonia Garden
Best time to visit: All year round

The Begonia Garden is one of the largest of its kind in Japan. Inside its expansive greenhouse, which measures over 9,000 square meters, you can find more than 12,000 begonia plants from various species around the world.

Entering the garden feels like stepping into a dream world, filled with vibrant flowers. In particular, the large begonias bloom year-round, creating beautifully arranged photo opportunities throughout the space.
– Firefly Festival
Best time to visit: Late May – Late June

Besides the beautiful flowers in the garden, another highlight not to be missed is the Firefly Festival, held annually from late-May to late-June. At night, after sunset, you’ll witness swarms of fireflies emerging, glowing brightly in the darkness, resembling living stars floating by. It’s a beautiful and rare sight, an atmosphere rarely seen in big cities like Tokyo or Osaka. It’s a romantic experience you shouldn’t miss.

‘Entering Autumn’
– Cosmos
Best time to visit: Late September – Early November

Besides the changing autumn leaves, when autumn arrives, everyone can also admire the cosmos flowers, which bloom from late-September to early-November across an area of over 43,000 square metersA.

The flower arrangements are designed to provide visitors with beautiful views from many angles, especially on the hillsides and near the entrance, where you can see the vibrant flower fields stretching as far as the eye can see.
– Dahlia
Best time to visit: Early October – Mid November

One flower you definitely shouldn’t miss is the dahlia, which can be admired from early-October to mid-November. There are around 200 varieties of dahlias, with a notable highlight being the large-flowered “giant blooms”

As the weather cools, the colors of the dahlias become even more vibrant and beautiful, making them extremely popular among flower enthusiasts throughout Japan.
– Changing Leaves
Best time to visit: Late November – Mid December

As autumn arrives, the garden showcases vibrant colors, with leaves changing from green to yellow, orange, and red. This transformation creates a warm and beautiful atmosphere, perfect for strolls and taking photographs in nature.

‘From winter to spring’
– Weeping Plum Blossoms
Best time to visit: Late February – Mid March

If you visit during the winter, you’ll find a beautiful display of pink blossoms. But these aren’t cherry blossoms; they are Weeping Plum Blossoms, covering approximately 10,000 square meters with over 330 weeping plum trees, many of which are over 50 years old, and some are over 100 years old!

The plum blossoms bloom from late-February to mid-March, coinciding with the transition from winter to spring. Each tree displays beautiful, pale pink flowers with a distinctive fragrance. The garden is especially illuminated at night, making it a perfect spot for strolling and taking photos.
– Kawazu Zakura
Best time to visit: Early March – Late March

With the arrival of spring, it’s only natural to talk about cherry blossoms. Specifically, let’s discuss the Kawazu cherry blossoms (Kawazu Zakura), a variety that blooms earlier than other types. These blossoms begin to appear in early March and last for about a month.

The park features approximately 300 Kawazu cherry trees planted around a pond, creating a stunning tunnel of pink flowers. This area is beautiful both during the day and at night, allowing for enjoyment at any time.
– Tulip
Best time to visit: Mid March – Mid April

One of the highlights of Nabana no Sato is the display of tulips, which can be enjoyed from mid-March to mid-April.


This area, known as Hanahiroba, features a large flower garden with approximately 1.8 million tulips. Visitors can find a wide variety of colors, including red, yellow, pink, and even some rare hues. We recommend visiting in early April to fully appreciate the beauty of the tulips alongside the cherry blossoms.

Relax and unwind with a foot bath (Ashiyu) at Nabana no Sato. This serene location offers a refreshing break while you explore the park. The foot baths are filled with natural mineral springs that emerge from underground, effectively relieving fatigue after a day of sightseeing.
