JR Kyushu will open Sengan-en Station on March 15th, 2025 in Kagoshima 

On March 15, 2025, JR Kyushu will open a new station, Sengan-en Station, located adjacent to the Former Shuseikan Area, a component of the UNESCO World Heritage site Meiji Japan’s Industrial Revolution Heritage.

The opening of Sengan-en Station will dramatically improve access to the Iso district, home to important landmarks such as Sengan-en Garden, a nationally designated scenic spot, as well as the Shoko Shuseikan Museum and the Former Kagoshima Spinning Company Engineer’s Residence.

Visitors will now be able to experience the rich 800-year history of the Shimazu family and easily access these cultural sites, with only a 10-minute ride from Kagoshima Chuo Station.

In addition, Sengan-en Station faces the beautiful Kinko Bay and offers breathtaking views of the active volcano, Sakurajima, which can be seen up close. The grand scenery that envelops visitors as they step onto the platform will provide an unforgettable experience.
